Any views on typepad for blogging?

After much deliberations, I've narrowed down my blogging tools (sorry I don't know what to call it tool? platform?) and decided to go with typepad as I've read with typepad it's easy to put advertising on your blog, whereas wordpress don't like advertising. Does anyone have any opinions on typepad or other services? Good or bad. Bearing in mind I do at some point want advertising on the blog. I would rather pay a small monthly fee then end up with something I don't want...
